So, I am doing an academic research on machine learning: - Trying to improve OCR algorithms (Optical Character Recognition). My question is: Do you know any book or study that define the legibility of a letter? An example would be: if the Ascender of an ‘h’ is less than 1.3 its height, it will be interpreted as an ‘n’.

I am basically looking for human standards to describe a character (ex a V should have an angle of no more than 50 degrees and meet at the base).

Well, does anyone knows of something useful in that direction ?
