I am using warnock pro caption as bodytext in a magazine and is on a search for crisp, clean and strong sans for headlines.

I have been looking at types such as berthold akzidenz, ff meta and frankling gothic. Any tips on my further such? Much, much appreciated!

Why would you use a Caption variant of Warnock in your body copy? I think you’re better off using the Regular style for your body copy and using the Caption style for your headlines…

If you really want to combine it with a non-modulated font, I’d advise you to go with Gotham, they make for a really great combination…

The font were chosen before my time, but I have thought about changing it to regular. You know anything about the difference in legibility between caption and regular?

Gotham, very nice. Just what I have been looking for. Thanks!

The letterforms and letter spacing of the Caption-style letters are slightly wider and bolder, which, in body copy, will result in longer lines, longer paragraphs and eventually less text on one page. As far as legibility goes: I don’t have a clue. My guess is they are both equally legible in body copy, but the Regular style will probably make for a slightly less heavy page. Your editor might be happy with an extra line of text you could gain in a longer article though :-).

Glad I could help out!
