Background

Washington was my second major typeface design after winning the Lettergraphics International Alphabet Contest held in 1970, from 5000 contestants worldwide with another 5-weight family Virginia. Washington was completed in 1973 while working as a lettering artist for the contest’s sponsor and was originally marketed for film fonts by Type Designers International.
