Background
Honored as one of Typographica’s Favorite Fonts of 2004, the first traces of the Olduvai font were excavated from an archaeological site deep in the brain of Randy Jones. At first there was debate among scientists about whether this truly was the first hand-drawn font with the ability to execute sophisticated typographic layouts. However, the subsequent discovery of initial caps, borders and ornaments left little doubt that this was indeed a special find. To date four compete families have been unearthed.
Each glyph in the font was drawn with a pencil at one cm high.
