Background
Eason evolved over the course of two years from its original source: Nicolas Jenson’s 1470 roman. Jenson has been revived and remixed so many times, conscious decisions were repeatedly made to transform Eason into a new creation. The postmodern result is very far afield from Venetian Renaissance types, though the italic references the writing masters and caps retain familiar proportions.
The titling capitals come in two versions, solid caps for display sizes, and inline caps for even larger usage. The ornaments are monospaced and deconstructed into various components to maximize ease, creativity and flexibility. But Eason isn’t just about playful display work. It includes oldstyle figures and tabular lining figures across all weights as well as small caps, making Eason a hard-working choice for the most demanding projects.
