Background
Briarwood is a fun experimental font that was created at a fontmaking workshop in the Graphic Design Department of Minnesota State University Moorhead. Workshop participants each crafted a 3D-formed letter created out of paper with scissors, glue and tape. The resulting constructs were then photographed, outlined and turned into font format. The font is presented here in “duotone” format, with two versions of the same alphabet in uppercase and lowercase positions; the uppercase are solid outlines of the shapes, the lowercase are shadows within them. You can set the same text in uppercase and lowercase in overlapping layers of different colors to create a more “dimensional” appearance to type set in this font. There is also a flickr set of the original photos of these letters, here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxm92Ee
