Background
Michael Stipe has been creating all the art and design for R.E.M. together with band-mate Chris Bilheimer, for 15 years. Their collaborations have garnered 3 Grammy nominations for Best Package Design and sold more than 15 million copies world-wide.
He attended the fine arts program at the University of Georgia. Michael Stipe, singer and lyricist, formed R.E.M. in 1980. While continuing to sing with R.E.M., Stipe is also an avid photographer and film producer.
