Background
Jonathan Perez is a twenty-four-year old type designer and graphic designer, graduated of the DMA (diploma in arts and crafts) and the DSAA (higher diploma in arts and crafts), both in the typographic design department at the École Estienne (Paris).
In parallel with his work for clients such as the Musée national des Arts asiatiques Guimet (Paris) or the French Institute of oriental archeology’s publishing house (IFAO, Cairo), he has given lectures and lessons on the history of writing and on typography at the École d’Art Plastique (Paris), the French Institute of oriental archeology (Cairo), the École pratique des hautes études (Paris) or at the Festival des Arts Graphiques (Paris).
He has made many trips abroad, notably in India, Nepal and Egypt, where he has spent several months.
He created in January 2008 the project typographies.fr, in order to produce and distribute Latin and non-Latin characters. The Copte Scripte, first font of the project made with Laurent Bourcellier, received the Type Directors Club Certificate of Excellence in Type Design of New York.
