Background
Alessandro Butti (1893-1959) lived in Turin, Italy. He was a type designer, teacher at the Scuola Vigliani-Paravia, and an art director for the Nebiolo type foundry in Turin.
His typeface designs include: Paganini (with A. Bertieri, 1928), Quirius (1939), Athenaeum (with Aldo Novarese, 1945), Normandia (with Aldo Novarese, 1946-49), Rondine (1948), Augustea (with Aldo Novarese, 1951), Fluidum (1951), and Microgramma (with Aldo Novarese, 1952)
